Safety and Equipment
Is the boat safe and in good condition?
Yes, the vessel is currently in survey with the NSW Waterways Authority, which requires comprehensive safety equipment standards and regular safety checks. A safety briefing is given to the charter passengers before embarkation.
What is the maximum capacity of the boat?
30 passengers is the maximum surveyed number allowed on this vessel.
Note: An infant, regardless of age is considered a passenger.
Is the boat suitable for children?
Yes, the vessel has safety rails all the way around the boat and children"s lifejackets are available on request. Children must be under adult supervision at all times.
We would like to have swim from the boat if it is a hot day. Is that OK?
The boat is equipped with a swim ladder so access to the water is not difficult. The organiser of the charter must sign an Injury Waiver form before clients enter the water.
Is there sun protection on the boat?
The 40" Catamaran has a coach house area, which provides ample shade from the sun.
What seated areas are available?
There is undercover seating for 8 persons comfortably around the table inside the vessel. There is also seating at the transom area at the rear of the vessel, on the forward deck below the mast and on the trampolines either side of the bows.
What toilet facilities are on board?
The vessel is equipped with 1 modern, spacious marine toilet with easy access.
Catered Food and Beverage Options
We wish to have our charter catered for, is this possible?
Yes. We can recommend some excellent caterers for you to speak with to design and deliver the perfect menu to suit your budget and taste. Guests are able to carry aboard their own alcohol, as Seabird Seven
is not a licensed yacht. For extra convenience, alcohol can be ordered through our partners at Rose Bay Drive through Liquor Ph:(02) 9371-9608, and will be delivered directly to the boat 2 hours prior to the charter.
Are we allowed to bring our own food and drinks?
Yes. We suggest that you bring boat friendly food that requires minimum preparation i.e. platter-style cold foods and any beverages that you will need for your charter. Guests are able to carry aboard their own alcohol, as Seabird Seven
is not a licensed yacht.
Is there a BBQ on board?
The vessel is equipped with reasonably sized gas BBQ including cooking utensils.
What kitchen equipment is available?
The boat has cutlery, plates and glasses for 30 passengers as well as salad bowls, platters and other basic kitchen items.
Are there tea and coffee making facilities?
There is a gas stove and kettle on board for making tea and coffee. Bring along your own tea, coffee, sugar and milk.
Where can we put our food and drinks?
The boat has a large fridge unit in the galley. You are permitted to bring along additional coolers if required. Older style metal eskies are not allowed as they damage the boat.
Do we need to bring ice for the cooler/esky?
Yes. We have a large ice box on board. You will need between 3 & 4 Bags of ice.
Sydney Boat Hire
Can we have music on board?
Yes, the vessel is equipped with an excellent sound system. Bring a selection of your favourite CDs or plug your iPod in direct.
Where can we go during our charter?
We can go to most places in Sydney Harbour. You have the choice of setting your own route or leaving your skipper to organize a route to best suit your group and conditions.
A popular option is a city sights cruise, taking in the Sydney Opera House, Fort Denison, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Darling Harbour, Lane Cove River, and the Sydney Fish Markets area. For a relaxing time, we can take you to some great-secluded spots such as Castle Rock, Store or Quarantine Beach for a relaxing BBQ and swim. The options are yours!
Can we extend our charter time during the charter?
Yes. Many people are having such a fantastic time when they are on the water they wish to extend. Should this be the case, please ask the skipper to contact the Office to confirm whether the boat is available for the time requested. Payment must be made either by credit card over the phone or by cash to the Skipper before we will extend the charter period.
Booking and Payment
Can we view the boat before we book our charter?
Yes, as the vessel is located at the Rose Bay Marina viewing is possible most days.
How do I secure my booking?
A minimum 50% deposit is required to confirm booking, with the balance payable 14 days prior to commencement of the charter. Upon payment of your deposit, a Skippered Charter Contract will be faxed or emailed to you, confirming details relevant to your charter, which must be signed and returned with final payment. Payment can be made by MasterCard, Visa, Electronic Funds Transfer or cash. American Express and Diners Card are not accepted.
Is there any paperwork to complete before we go on our Sydney Boat Charter?
Yes. Your contract needs to be signed and bond payment must be made before boarding the vessel. Bring a credit card for payment of security bond. The bond of $1,000.00 is taken by credit card imprint and kept for at least 14 days in case of loss or damage to on board equipment, charter vessel or another vessel.
If I cancel the charter, can I get a refund?
If you cancel the Charter within 60 days of the date of the charter, the deposit will be forfeited. If charter is cancelled inside 7 days and full payment has been made the whole charter fee will be forfeited. If notice of cancellation is 60 days or greater the deposit will be refunded less a 10% booking and administration fee. If the Operator cancels the Charter, the deposit will be refunded.
What happens in the event of rain?
The 40' Catamaran provides reasonable protection from the elements because of its covered cockpit area . We cannot offer a "Blue Sky Guarantee" however if boating conditions are unsafe, as determined by Seabird Seven administrator, we will re-schedule your booking to another date suitable to both parties on the basis of a standby arrangement.
Preparations and Arrival
What do you advise we bring along for our charter?
As conditions can vary on the water, it is suggested that you bring along a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, swimming costumes, and seasonal jumper or jacket. Please wear white-soled shoes or non-marking boating shoes. Strictly no black soled shoes or stiletto-heeled shoes, as this will damage the decking.
Where can our party be picked up and dropped off?
Pick up/drop off points are available e.g.City King St Warf Darling Harbour. East Sydney Rushcutters Bay.
North Sydney Lavender Bay (Next to Luna Park) West Sydney Thames st Warf Balmain.
Please note that pick up locations may be available on request. City locations attract an additional fee of $30.00
in Total for the vessel to cover Maritime wharf bookings.
Does our party need to get there before the set time of the charter?
All your party should be at the designated pick up point at least half an hour prior to your charter time to allow loading of passengers and gear and to enable enough time for the skipper's safety briefing.
Note: Your charter will start and finish at the times on your contract. If one your party is late arriving at the pick up point and departure is delayed, you will lose some of your charter time on the water.
Can one of our guests be picked up late and dropped off early from another wharf?
Multiple pick up and drop off points are not permitted. Guests wishing to join the charter late or leave early will have to arrange alternative transportation.
